Prayer. Is. Hard.

Not the ideal title for a blog on a prayer web site is it?

But sometimes we have to face the facts.

In a culture inundated with images, prayer is hard because it requires faith—the person you are addressing is invisible—imageless.

In a culture bombarded with distractions, prayer is hard because it takes focus.

In a culture that is fast-paced and action packed, prayer is hard because it requires us to slow down.

In a culture with ubiquitous fun and diversions, prayer is hard because it takes what we believe to be our most precious commodity…time.

But prayer is good.

In a culture inundated with images, prayer is good because it requires faith—the person you are addressing is invisible—imageless.

In a culture bombarded with distractions, prayer is good because it takes focus.

In a culture that is fast-paced and action packed, prayer is good because it requires us to slow down.

In a culture with ubiquitous fun and diversions, prayer is good because it takes what we believe to be our most precious commodity… time.

Tara Hackney, Founder of One Million Prayers, is an ordinary American who serves an extraordinary God. As she gets to know Him more each day, she’s growing a little braver and a little bolder in her prayers. As a wife and mother of three enthusiastic boys, she often finds herself scrubbing out grass stains, doubling recipes, or driving all over town. In the quiet hours, she enjoys writing and getting sand between her toes.
